TERM 1  (2020)

SPORTS Registrations for Term 1, 2020
The following sports will be available in Term 1 next year (2020)
Registrations are now open via Kindo until the Friday 10th January.

Gordon Spratt Reserve, Fridays, between 4pm - 6pm
Starts 28th February- 3rd April
Cost $15 per player  
Grades are all mixed gender
Year 1-2 ( 5 aside)
Year 3-4 ( 7 aside)
Year 5-6 ( 7 aside)

Papamoa Community Swimming Pool at Papamoa Primary, Sundays between 9.00am - 5pm
Starts 16th February - 5th April
Cost $75  per player (Tga Waterpolo have increased their fees to cover their sports equipment, and we have also added in the cost of having 2 practices in the pool)
Grades are all mixed gender
Year 3  (6 aside - pool width) Advisable to be a confident swimmer
Year 4  (6 aside - pool width) Advisable to be a confident swimmer
Year 5-6 A  (6 aside - pool length)  Must be able to confidently swim 100m (4 lengths) unassisted.
Year 5-6 B  (6 aside - pool length)  Must be able to confidently swim 100m (4 lengths) unassisted.

Tauranga Hockey Turf, Mt Maunganui, Mondays 5pm onwards
Starts 17th February
Cost $40 per player
Primary (Year 1-4) 6aside

Trustpower Arena, Bay Park, Friday evenings
Starts February 21 st – April 3rd
Cost $30 per player
Year 3-4 (4 aside)
Year 5-6 (4 aside)

Futsal (indoor Football) - Run by Papamoa Football Club

Floorball (indoor hockey/Ice hockey) - Run by Bay Active
GSS will not be entering a team, but you can register as an individual
Trustpower Arena, Wednesdays
Starting Wed  12th February 2020
$40 per child (children will be grouped into teams each week)
Year 1-6   (4 vs 4 in a half rink)


Competitive School Swimming Sports 2020
GSS Competitive Swimming Sports is tentatively booked in for Thursday 5th March 2020.
Children that wish to enter an event, should have demonstrated that they are competently able to swim the distance unaided using correct technique for a stroke. 
In order for children to place in an event and/or qualify for a Clusters event they will need to demonstrate the correct technique and adhere to the race rules. 
Event and stroke rules can be found on the registration form.

Whole School Fun Athletics & Whanau Day

Another fun filled day of sporting activities shared with our Whanau.
Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun, especially to those that also helped out in any way.

Mt Cluster Athletics Day

Congratulations to all of our students that represented GSS at the Mt Cluster Athletics Day.

WBOP Boys Mini World Cup Cricket Tournament .  Wednesday 6th November

A great, fun day playing cricket.  GSS representing Fiji.
The boys also got to experience playing Blind Cricket which was awesome.

Go Girls Cricket

BOP Go Girls Cricket will be taking coaching sessions here at school for any girls interested in cricket starting 23rd October.
We will then select a team of year 4-6 girls to compete at this tournament.

WBOP Orienteering
Thursday 17th October
McLaren Falls Park

34 Year 5 & 6 student took part in extremely fun, well organised Orienteering event.
Well done to all our participants!

TERM 3

Whanau Day
Thursday 26th Sept 

This Whanau Day we enjoyed Dance, Arts & Crafts & old school games.

Our Learning Communities have been taking part in Futsal sessions over the past couple of weeks.

TERM 2

Golden Sands School Non-Competitive Fun Cross Country
Thursday 27th June 2019

What an awesome fun day this was!  It was fantastic to see everyone dressed in their Whanau Group Colours and supporting each other in their groups, and running as many laps of our fun course as they could.
Great to see so many parents here joining in the fun, dressing up, and running with the children also.
The Whanau Group Chants were amazing!
A special thanks to Holland Beckett Law Firm for sending us the BOP Steamers Players for the afternoon to join in our event and judge the Chant competition.
Thank you to everyone who helped out to make the event such a success.
